Method

How to use this tool

  1. 01

Enter parent-sheet and finished-piece dimensions in one unit.

  2. 02

Add the required gap between adjacent pieces.

  3. 03

Enable rotation when grain direction or artwork orientation allows it.

Assumptions

What the math assumes

  • Pieces are arranged in a regular grid with straight guillotine cuts.
  • No outer margin, gripper, bleed, or color bar is included unless folded into the entered dimensions.
  • Waste percentage compares piece area with full sheet area.

Production limits

Verify before output

  • Mixed-orientation nesting and irregular shapes may produce a better yield.
  • Grain direction, press constraints, and finishing sequence can rule out the mathematical maximum.

Frequently asked questions

Does the gutter apply at the sheet edges?

No. The entered gutter is placed only between adjacent pieces.

Why can actual production yield be lower?

The calculation does not reserve gripper, side lay, color bars, trim allowance, or spoilage unless you include them in your dimensions.
